On a cold, grey day in the city, you may find yourself wondering where to find the best pho in the city. And the reality is, there are countless pho spots around Montreal that are serving up some scrumptious bowls of noodle soup. So, how on earth are you supposed to choose? Well, that's where we come in.
This list is not a ranking and we won't be giving any medals for the best of the best... But, there is no question that these six pho spots in Montreal are serving up some seriously delicious soup.
So, if you consider yourself a true lover of noodles and are ready to have a huge bowl of soup steaming up your face, one of these six pho locations (Pho-cations?) is guaranteed to satisfy your craving.
We did our best to include somewhere special in as many locations around the city as possible... so don't worry, they aren't all in Côte-des-Neiges (despite the reputation that CDN is the #1 place to be for pho lovers in Montreal).
Take a look, take your pick, and enjoy that Tonkinoise, my friends!
Pho Lien
Where: 5703B chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges; 1429A rue Bishop
Often touted as one of the best spots for some Tonkinoise in the city, this cash-only spot in CDN will fulfill any noodle craving. And if you're downtown, check out the new Pho Lien Express location on rue Bishop!
Restaurant Pho Tay Ho
Where: 6414 rue Saint-Denis
Pho Tay Ho is a favourite amongst pho lovers in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.* They also serve up other authentic dishes and specialities, like Vietnamese coffee, which is definitely worth a try.
The top Facebook review puts it well: "This place could be THE only place in Canada — The chicken in Pho Ga is skin on and serves in the real chicken soup which is very tasty. The best! Worth the wait!"
Pho Hao
Where: 6230 chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges
If pho or Tonkinoise noodle soup is what you're after, Côte-des-Neiges is a solid neighbourhood to frequent, as there are numerous spots worth checking out.
Pho Hao is another CDN location that has customers coming back again and again for the huge portions and great prices.
Pho Ngon
Where: 3205 rue Cremazie E.
While Pho Ngon might be off the beaten path for some, this authentic Vietnamese restaurant is serving up pho so good you'll barely notice where you are or how long it took you to get there.
Pho Bac
Where: 1016 blvd Saint-Laurent
Right in the heart of Chinatown, Pho Bac 97 is your best bet for pho if you're wandering downtown and need some noodles and a face full of steamy soup on a cold day. They've got big bowls, served with tea. What more could you need?
Pho Rachel
Where: 14 rue Rachel E.
If the Plateau is your spot or delivery is what you crave, Pho Rachel might be the pho-cation for you. They've got great vegetarian options and some stinkin' hot homemade chilli sauce for your spice lovers.
