You head to a Montreal bar when you want to grab a bite, grab a drink, and catch up with friends. But where do you go when you're also feeling a bit of a competitive urge, or when you want to be more proactive or adventurous in life that still includes imbibing and not having to move too far away from a table and chairs? Well, you still head to a pub — just a different kind of pub.
Montreal is rife with bars that have a little something extra; we've got themed bars, sugar-induced cocktail bars, holiday bars, and low-waste speakeasy bars.
But, even if you want a throwback to simpler days where the drinks don't usually have more than three ingredients and the games don't have too many rules, Montreal still manages to come through.
We took a look at some of the pubs and bars in the city for when you want a side of fun with your drinks. There is everything from the best place to play a game of pool with friends to compete in your very own five-minute play.
So, the next time you're in the mood for more than the usual pub grub, check out these seven Montreal spots that are known for something a little extra.

Board Games at Randolph Pub Ludique Quartier Latin
Where: 2041, rue Saint-Denis (check out all the locations)
