I'm a city girl, through and through, but sometimes living right on a major boulevard in Montreal can leave me feeling a little exhausted. I'm an extremely social person, but I also take my alone time very seriously. Every now and again I feel the need to disconnect from everyone and everything. And, fortunately, there are tons of places to go in Montreal where I can do just that.
Spending time with yourself doesn't necessarily mean staying home alone and binge-watching The Real Housewives, although I am a huge fan of doing that also. Spending time alone should also involve going out into the world and doing activities with just you.
I call it: dating yourself, and I have been doing it for years. Sometimes I take myself on a long coffee date and other times I bring me to a museum to check out a new exhibit. Whatever I do, I do it for myself and it allows me to get to know the woman I am and the person I am turning into.
Taking yourself on dates is one of the most valuable things you can do for you. And, with all the crappy dates we have gone on in our lifetime, it is nice to go out with someone who loves you unconditionally!
Appreciate The Work At Montreal's Museum Of Fine Arts
Where: 1380 rue Sherbrooke
Located in the beautiful Golden Square Mile, The Museum of Fine Arts has been one of my happy places since my teenage years.
While basking in the magnificent art, you will be immersed in a creative space that will evoke a variety of emotions, which is ideal for a day of "me" time.

Shop For Fresh Goods At The Jean-Talon Market
Where: 7070 ave Henri Julien
The Jean-Talon Market is a gem living within our city. Located in Little Italy, this market is one of the best places to grab some alone time within our city.
Not only will the fresh produce and colourful flowers but there are a ton of places within the market where you can pick up coffee and nosh on some truly delectable goods.

Spend Some Time At A Cafe
Our city houses many coffee shops that serve up tasty caffeinated drinks with cool decor, that are perfect spots for spending some quality one on one time with yourself.
If you are looking to read a book, catch up on some emails or simply just get some alone time, you can certainly do that at one of the many cafes in Montreal.

Go To One Of Montreal's Beautiful Libraries
I am someone who finds roaming through libraries incredibly comforting. There is something relaxing about the scent of books in a building that truly gives me a sense of ease.
And, lucky for me, and others like myself, there are a couple of phenomenal libraries within the island, all of which make for the perfect solo-date!

Take Yourself On A Bagel Date
Regardless of if you prefer St-Viateur or Fairmont, I am sure we can all agree that there is nothing quite as good as munching on a fresh, warm Montreal bagel.
One of my go-to solo-dates is grabbing fresh bagels, a tub of creme cheese, sitting in a park and washing it down with a hot latte- now that is what I call well spent alone time!
Relax At Bota Bota
Where: Vieux-Port de Montreal, entrance on McGill de la Commune Ouest & rue McGill
This historic river ferry transformed into a lavish floating spa that is a great spot for anyone looking to spend some quality time alone.
Throughout the facilities, you can treat yourself to spa treatments, grab lunch, do some yoga and take in the scenic views surrounding you.
There is nothing more relaxing than a day alone at the spa!

Stroll Through The Botanical Gardens
Where: 4101 rue Sherbrooke E
The Montreal Botanical Garden is a large botanical garden that is home to 75 hectares of thematic gardens and greenhouses.
Throughout the winter, the greenhouses offer guests a chance to be connected with nature, without having to travel to a sunshine-filled destination.
From the waterfalls to the winding paths, everything about this place is awesome. And, if you need some solo time, this is a great spot to do just that.
Read A Book At The Westmount Conservatory
Where: 4626 rue Sherbrooke W
This stunning conservatory is filled with beautiful flowers and greenery. Built in 1927 by Lord & Burnham, who also built the New York Botanical Garden, this spot is truly spectacular.
Not only will this spot stimulate your imagination but it also happens to be a great place to unwind and catch up on some reading.
Paint Ceramics & Sip On Coffee
Where: 4338 rue Saint-Denis; Céramic Café
There are many places in the city where you can drink coffee and paint ceramics however, I tend to always go to Céramic Café on Saint-Denis.
The bright 2-level space allows you to create essentially anything. From mugs and plates to jewelry boxes and decorative pieces, you can do it all within this establishment.
It is sure to get your creative juices flowing. This will allow you to both create something cool and get in some alone time.
Hope you get in that much needed "me" time, fellow Montrealers!
