9 Montreal Spots Where You Can Get Some Alone Time If You're Just Done With People
  • Since everyone needs a little alone time every now and then, MTL Blog is here with a list of places to go in Montreal to do get exactly that.
  • Whether you bring a book along or just get lost in your own thoughts, these places are sure to help you find the peace of mind you need!
  • Check out the list below!

I'm a city girl, through and through, but sometimes living right on a major boulevard in Montreal can leave me feeling a little exhausted. I'm an extremely social person, but I also take my alone time very seriously. Every now and again I feel the need to disconnect from everyone and everything. And, fortunately, there are tons of places to go in Montreal where I can do just that.

Spending time with yourself doesn't necessarily mean staying home alone and binge-watching The Real Housewives, although I am a huge fan of doing that also. Spending time alone should also involve going out into the world and doing activities with just you.

I call it: dating yourself, and I have been doing it for years. Sometimes I take myself on a long coffee date and other times I bring me to a museum to check out a new exhibit. Whatever I do, I do it for myself and it allows me to get to know the woman I am and the person I am turning into.

Taking yourself on dates is one of the most valuable things you can do for you. And, with all the crappy dates we have gone on in our lifetime, it is nice to go out with someone who loves you unconditionally!

Appreciate The Work At Montreal's Museum Of Fine Arts

Where: 1380 rue Sherbrooke

Located in the beautiful Golden Square Mile, The Museum of Fine Arts has been one of my happy places since my teenage years.

While basking in the magnificent art, you will be immersed in a creative space that will evoke a variety of emotions, which is ideal for a day of "me" time.

Go To One Of Montreal's Beautiful Libraries

I am someone who finds roaming through libraries incredibly comforting. There is something relaxing about the scent of books in a building that truly gives me a sense of ease.

And, lucky for me, and others like myself, there are a couple of phenomenal libraries within the island, all of which make for the perfect solo-date!

Take Yourself On A Bagel Date

Regardless of if you prefer St-Viateur or Fairmont, I am sure we can all agree that there is nothing quite as good as munching on a fresh, warm Montreal bagel.

One of my go-to solo-dates is grabbing fresh bagels, a tub of creme cheese, sitting in a park and washing it down with a hot latte- now that is what I call well spent alone time!

Relax At Bota Bota

Where: Vieux-Port de Montreal, entrance on McGill de la Commune Ouest & rue McGill

This historic river ferry transformed into a lavish floating spa that is a great spot for anyone looking to spend some quality time alone.

Throughout the facilities, you can treat yourself to spa treatments, grab lunch, do some yoga and take in the scenic views surrounding you.
