A Brazilian Food Festival Is Coming To Montreal Next Month

They have the best desserts!

  • Chocoxinha Fest is a Brazilian food festival taking place in the Plateau Mont-Royal.
  • Among the offerings will be carrot cake, cheesy bread, and coxinhas.

The smell of fall is all around us and I know I am not the only person in the city that wants to make the most of the fleeting warmth.

Thankfully, there is no shortage of events still to come to celebrate the finals days of Montreal summer.

On September 7, Chocoxinha Fest is bringing the tastes and sounds of Brazil to the Plateau Mont Royal. There will be live music, a lot of energy, and of course, some pretty incredible foods to try out.

For those of you who have never tried Brazilian food, you are in for a treat.

Some of my favourite dishes from the country include cheese bread, corn cake, carrot cake and coxinha, which are these little puffs filled with shredded chicken and loads of flavour.

Like Montreal, Brazilian cities are known for their energy, adventurous people and great eats. It comes as no surprise that Montreal is home to a large and vibrant Brazilian community. For Chocoxinha Fest, members of this community are inviting other Montrealers to share in their culture.

"Come celebrate September 7 with the best of Brazilian culture in Montreal, Canada. You will find live music and the most popular and tasty sweet and savory in Brazil," the event website reads (translated from Portuguese).

In addition to my favourite traditionl fare, there will be Brazilian churros, which are small but oh so mighty! They also have some fresh and tasty drinks, including coconut water — a rarity in Montreal.

Tickets to the event are only $2.50 until September 1. All remaining tickets thereafter will be $5. To purchase a ticket or to review ticket rules, refer to the event website here.

Brazilian culture is full of life, colour and good food and I am sure that is exactly what's in store at this exciting event.
