A Four-Alarm Fire In Montreal Has Been Burning For Over Ten Hours (Photos)

A building caught on fire late last night on Notre-Dame between Pie-IX and Viau. The building, which is vacant, caught on fire late last night, and burnt all throughout the night. 

As per the latest information, the building was still on fire at around 7 AM this morning. The fire has caused important detours in the Hochelaga area, and traffic is significantly slowed down.

It took over 80 firefighters to fight the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Because the building was abandoned, no evacuations or injuries have been reported.

The fire began late last night at around 9:00 p.m. An empty building, which appears to have been a warehouse, caught on fire on Notre-Dame in the Hochelaga neighbourhood.

The first alarm sounded close to 9. Firefighters were rushed on to the scene, warning that nearby residents might experience power cuts.

Subsequent alarms were sounded: the fourth and final alarm rang at around 11:30 p.m. According to Sécurité Incendie Montréal (Montreal Fire Safety), between 80 and 90 firefighters were rushed to the scene.

According to other news sources, the fire was still blazing at 7:00 this morning, and Sécurité Incendie Montréal has not yet confirmed that the fire has been put out.

The fire has caused significant detours as people were asked to avoid the area while the firefighter's intervention was ongoing.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. As of now, there has been no mention of a criminal motive. The photos of the fire show how impressive the blaze was.

We reached out to the SIM and the City of Montreal, but we are still waiting for more information. This post will be updated when new information becomes available.
