This Quebec Bathroom Was Just Ranked The #2 Best Public Restroom In All Of Canada (Photos)
  • Yes, there is really a ranking of the best public bathrooms in Canada and the facilities in a restaurant in Quebec took the #2 spot.
  • It was beat out by a Shell gas station bathroom in Alberta with chandeliers...

It has been a heated competition with public bathrooms throughout our country vying for Cintas Canada's coveted #1 spot in the 2019 Canada's Best Restroom Contest. Proving there really are titles for every occasion.

Though Quebec didn't receive the crown for the best throne in all of Canada, we did place a respectable number two with Cosmos Café located in Quebec City.

The first place title, and a place in the esteemed Canada's Best Restroom Hall of Fame, was given to a Shell station of all things. But strangely enough the Beaver Hill Shell in Lac La Biche, Alberta may just deserve the top prize.

The original five finalists were chosen based on restroom cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality, and unique design elements. The public was then able to vote on their favourites from July 15 to August 16.

Our opinions may be clouded. We thought Cosmos had a real shot at winning the top prize of $2,500, but it seems their unique one-way mirrored fish tanks just couldn't live up to Beaver Hill Shell's herringbone wood floors and chandeliers

Keep reading to find out more than you've ever needed to know about the top two restrooms in Canada, with pictures!

Let's start off with Cosmos Café because they're still number one in our books. Originally chosen for its "artistic and eccentric" style, what really puts this restroom over the top is the aforementioned one-way mirrored fishtanks with a view into the dining room.

The sinks are made of slabs of rough rock with gorgeous waterfall faucets that feed into them.

For many of us with public anything phobias, the best part is that all the accessories are touchless. So you don't have to actually risk touching anything.

The Beaver Hill Shell is surprising, to say the least. It's located at a rest stop. The last place you would actually want to rest at. But they had the customers in mind with luxurious details like granite countertops, high-end lighting, and herringbone patterns throughout.

Shell Canada did go all out driving votes for the bathroom through social media and paid advertisement. But I'm still pretty sure this is the first rest stop bathroom in existence where you don't hold your breath and hope for not-the-worst.
