Note that the saying "we all scream for ice cream" implies universal accessibility to the delicious frozen treat. Unfortunately, for many people with allergies or dietary restrictions, traditional ice cream is a no-go.

What: Personally, I'm obsessed with this place. The chocolate is fan-tas-tic. Basically, this is the way it works: you choose your ice cream flavour and what kind of chocolate to dip your chocolate in. This year, they introduced vegan ice cream and vegan chocolate for all of your dairy-free needs.

Where: 4609 rue Notre-Dame O.
What: This dessert shop in Saint-Henri offers handmade ice cream and cookies. They have several vegan options! Their vegan chocolate ice cream is particularly popular.
Hoche Glacé

What: Three words: vegan soft serve. You can top your ice cream with a variety of toppings like sprinkles, nuts, and berries. You can even make awesome vegan parfaits with a chocolate coulis sauce.

What: This tiny shop by Jean-Talon specializes in vegan ice cream, gluten-free cakes and other vegan ice creams. Ice cream flavours include "strawberry delight" and "zesty chocoranga." They also sell their products in grocery stores around Montreal.

What: This ice cream store near the Sherbrooke metro station is amazing in terms of offering a lot of options for your vegan needs. Le Patio had generous portions and great flavours!
Cafe Résonance

What: Cafe Résonance is a vegan café in the Mile End with awesome sandwiches and smoothies. They also serve vegan ice cream in three flavours: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. YUM.
Sophie Sucrée

What: This adorable vegan bakery serves some delicious treats in-store and delivers to locations across the city. You can't tell their brownies apart from the non-vegan alternative, I promise. You have to try their ice cream bars on a warm summer day.
