This isn't any old holiday village. This is a first-class, award-winning, one-kilometre stroll through a sensory onslaught of light and sound that will tickle every holiday bone in your body. And it won't be happy until you shout out in childish glee. And you will. It's that good.
The Blumination Dream Trail in Blue Mountain, Ontario will be the reason you call in sick to work, pack up your car and embark on a seven-hour winter road trip.
Set in the cobblestoned pedestrian streets of Blue Mountain Village, the Dream Trail takes you on an illuminated and immersive walk through the free festivities. The village streets are framed by turn-of-the-century Ontario architecture, making it a flawless Christmas setting come to life.
This is the second year of the event and there are promises that it will be bigger and brighter than last year's with over one million lights guiding you through spectacular light and technology displays.
With the help of tech company Smash Reality, there are integrated 3D art installations that react to touch, sound, and motion making it a tactile and visual wonder. There is also a dazzling Christmas tree light show paired with holiday music. It is as innovative as it is magical.
Opening night takes place on November 30 and they will be celebrating with fireworks, glow-in-the-dark groove dancing, music light displays, and a scavenger hunt.
But even if you can't make the opening night celebrations, Blumination runs through to March 28. While every night is a holiday party, it's really the weekends you don't want to miss. Every Saturday has fireworks over the pond, horse carriage rides, and pics with Santa.
