Breaking: Major Delays On Montreal's STM Orange Line

This is breaking news.

The STM Orange line has ben shut down between Beaubien and Berri-UQAM stations.

According to a Tweet from the STM, service has stopped while crews respond to "an injured or ill passenger." There are no other details.

Both the official Twitter acocunts of the STM and the Orange line intially tweeted that service would resume by "0:15h," or 12:15AM.

Those tweets were quickly deleted and may have been an error.

The revised estimate is that that serivce will resume within twenty minutes.

Passengers took to Twitter to complain about the situation on a day when the Orange line is "particularly crowded."

C’est déjà la congestion comme jamais sur la @stm_Orange Dès qu’il y a une intervention d’urgence c’est l’enfer!
Il faut réfléchir à notre système de transport public qui est très très malade

Passengers should expect delays.

I usually walk to Champs-de-Mars to get on the ⁦@stm_Orange⁩, even though I’m heading North, so as to avoid Berri-UQàM. Because, you know... Berri’s so jammed you never get on a train. Today - even at CdM, I’ve had to let four trains go by.

Here's What's Open & What's Closed On Labour Day In Montreal

There are still a ton of things to do this Monday holiday!
  • Here's a short list of what's open and what's closed on Labour Day in Montreal.
  • If you're heading out, make sure to call ahead to your destination to inquire about reduced hours.

Yes, it's a long weekend! Three uninterrupted days to relax, have fun, and not think for two seconds about things like school or work, or other responsibilities until Tuesday morning. Not to be too depressing but it will be six weeks before we get another official long weekend.

But let's focus on the positive! This is usually one of the summer weekends that people are trying to pack in their last days of camping or chalet time. But if you're planning to stay in the city it's good to know what's open and what's closed so you can plan out your Labour Day weekend.
