Christmas Market Trail Through 3 European-Style Festivals Outside Montreal Opens This Week
  • Christmas markets are taking over Quebec as we speak, but this 3 in 1 Christmas village seems like it might just outdo all the rest.
  • The Lanaudière Christmas Market expands in a circuit that touches on three Quebec cities: L’Assomption, Joliette-Lanaudière, and Terrebonne. And it's only an hour's drive from Montreal!
  • Find out all about this massive Christmas market below!

Why make the trek to only one Christmas market when just an hour's drive from Montreal is an entire Christmas market circuit made up of three-holiday villages? The Lanaudière Christmas Market is the must-go if you want to experience all things festive during the holiday season.

Located only a few kilometres from one another, the circuit will wind you through the Quebec cities of L’Assomption, Joliette-Lanaudière, and Terrebonne.

Each city transforms into a winter wonderland filled with Christmas lights, parades, visits with Santa and his elves, local vendors and artisans, shows, and culinary choices that will appease any foodie.

The Lanaudière’s Christmas Market will open to the public in just a few day's time. Both the Marché de Noël de l'Assomption and Marché de Noël de Terrebonne are officially open November 28, but to visit all three you may want to wait until November 29 when Marché de Noël de Joliette also opens its doors to the public.

Each market has its own reason to visit - but they are all worth a trip, and since they're completely free to attend, you can get a little taste of the holiday spirit without ever opening your wallet.

If shopping is your goal, the Marché de Noël de l'Assomption is open the longest - November 28 to December 23 - and has the most vendors. Over 75 farmers and artisans set up to offer you the chance to shop outside along brightly lit wooden kiosks as well as two indoor zones.

Everything you could want to spoil yourself or others is available like unique jewelry and household decor, and gourmet wines and food.

After shopping, you can head over to Marché de Noël de Terrebonne at the magical waterfront location of  Île-des-Moulins to enjoy a local beer or wine. The market is open until December 15 and you'll be able to sample local products as well as meet local artisans of the region.
