If two trains leave Montreal, one travelling south across the US and one travelling west across Canada, what do you get? The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train! And it's all happening this month - with seven stops in Quebec.

The CP Holiday Train embarks on its Canadian adventure train on November 26 at the EXO Commuter station in Montreal Ouest. The train is making its way through Canada adorned in festive Christmas lights, making stops throughout the country where it'll host free events with music, entertainment, and holiday cheer.

The event is not only free but for a great cause. The yearly event raises food, money, and awareness for food banks. While it doesn't have to cost you a penny, attendees are asked to donate money or food to their local food banks and shelters.

According to Keith Creel, CP's President and CEO, "Access to nutritious food is a basic necessity, and food bank usage is on the rise across North America. The CP Holiday Train program is our way to help in the fight against hunger by growing awareness of this issue and providing a fun and engaging way for the public to show their support.”

You have to be on board with that.

The US train leaves Quebec a day earlier than its Canadian counterpart. On November 25, the train will make five stops in our province before heading on to New York.

The train is really something to see as it speeds across the country. It has 14 rail cars, is about 1,000 feet in length and will be decorated with hundreds of thousands of bright Christmas lights. One of the boxcars even opens up as a travelling stage for the performers.

In case you're wondering, no you can't ride the train. Unfortunately, it's meant only for employees, their families, and a few lucky guests. But you can still experience it in all it's decorated splendour!
