Electric Scooters Finally Launched In Montreal Today, Here's Where You Can Find Them

The time has finally come, Montreal, Lime electric scooters are here and they're rolling through an intersection near you. Today, Lime finally activated its fleet of scooters in Montreal. The roads in our city are about to get a lot more crowded!

If you download the app today, you'll find (by my count) 40 scooters, mostly localized to downtown, around Concordia and Atwater. Seems that Lime is rolling out slowly, testing the market.

At the time of writing, there are a few scooters scattered around town — as far as Jarry Parc, the East End, and deep N.D.G. near Concordia's Loyola campus. Hope those people get back before their scooters run out of battery.

Here's where you can ride a Lime scooter in Montreal today!

As you can see from the photo below, Lime scooters and their docking stations are concentrated in downtown Montreal, the Village, and Westmount.

Makes sense, because downtown Montreal and its surrounding area are best served by a scooter-share service. Montreal will have some of the strictest Lime regulations in the world as users will only be allowed to leave them in designated areas and must take a photo through the app to verify the drop-off.

The scooters were supposed to make an appearance this weekend, but the launch was delayed due to the weather. The official reveal took place this morning.

Montreal city officials hope that by implementing strict regulations, users won't be tempted to litter the city with electric scooters like we've seen in cities like Paris.

Still, there are many options available for users who follow the rules and don't flout the regulations.

It's important to note that there are a few banned areas in Montreal. They're blocked off by a red square on the app. I'm not sure if the scooters are programmed to shut down in those areas, but be sure that you'll face consequences if you're caught Lime-ing in the restricted zones.

So far T.M.R,

and the Quartier des Spectacles banned all Lime scooters.
