Fête Des Neiges Montreal: Sip Mulled Wine & Skate Through The Forest In Parc Jean-Drapeau

Montreal's Fête des neiges at Parc Jean-Drapeau is almost back in town and if you were under the impression that the whole event was just for kids I'm here to tell you otherwise. While the month-long event is definitely family-friendly, there is actually lots to do even if you are living sans kiddos. I thought Fête des neiges de Montréal was just for families but a quick look at some of the new activities introduced thanks to their new space at Espace 67 island proves otherwise.

The Ice Ship and Super Slides are making a return this year, providing tons of fun for any kids in tow.

But it's the Radio-Canada skaters' path that has me especially excited.

It seems clear that winter event organizers have caught on to the fact that skating around in a circle can get duller than my skates in March pretty quickly.

So, this year at Fête des neiges, you can skate along a 300-metre path that winds through the forest along the edge of the Saint-Lawrence river.

The skating rink schedule will, of course, be subject to change based on the weather.

But you can keep track of conditions for the whole festival site at the website here (just scroll down and look for Site Conditions, right below the Schedule)!

You can bring your own skates to slide along the wooded path or rent skates on-site and soon you'll be soaring along the Saint-Lawrence.

The "Zone Faim de Loup" will provide refreshments (or rechaudments, depending on what you're after).

This food village will have restaurant operators serving up tasty food, hot chocolate, warm wine, and beer.

There are indoor areas to duck inside if you really need to warm up, as well, and the site promises a schedule of performing musical artists will soon be released.

There's no question that the quick trip on the Yellow Line will be well worth it this year, as Montreal's Fête des neiges is looking like a must-see this winter season.
