Flights From Montreal To Europe & The Caribbean Included In Air Canada's Summer Schedule

Air Canada will be flying to destinations around the world this summer. Included in its newly-released summer 2020 schedule are flights from Montreal to select U.S., European, and Caribbean cities, as well as a wide selection of domestic flights. "Air Canada is offering customers a choice of nearly 100 destinations in Canada, the U.S. and around the world with an abridged schedule this summer," the company announced Friday.

"As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, during which as much as 95 percent of our flights stopped operating and which has left us flying to less than half last year's destinations, our customers are expressing their eagerness to travel, where it is safe to do so," Chief Commercial Officer Lucie Guillemette wrote.

Among the highlights are flights from Montreal to FrankfurtLondonParis, and Brussels in June, followed later in the summer by flights to Athens, Rome, and Geneva.

One flight a week each to Martinique and Guadeloupe will begin in early June before flights to Mexico, Cuba, the Bahamas, the Turks & Caicos, and the Dominican Republic pick back up in July.

As for the U.S., once-daily flights from Montreal to Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Newark, and New York will take off beginning June 22, with Boston being twice-daily.

Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington will open up for Montrealers in July.

The complete summer flight schedule, including 18 flights from Montreal to other cities within Canada, is available on the Air Canada website.

The company has also revised its booking policy so that "new bookings made up to June 30, 2020, can be changed without fees for original travel between March 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021."

Air Canada employees will also operate under what Guillemette calls a "comprehensive biosecurity program," including "measures that limit unnecessary interactions," a requirement to use personal protective equipment, and "state-of-the-art cleaning techniques."

Alongside the summer schedule announcement, the airline released a spunky new commercial on its Instagram page.

"We were all hit hard — harder than we could have imagined. But we are resilient and focused on what’s to come. We are ready for takeoff," it announces.

The announcement from Air Canada is at least a sign of optimism that Montrealers will once again be able to travel this summer.
