Saint Joseph's Oratory is a beautiful spot to visit any time of the year. It's Canada's largest church and one of the world's most visited centres of pilgrimage. The multiple organs and 56 carillon bells are a testament to a love of music and the world’s great composers.
So it’s not surprising that it's also one of the most beautiful spots in Montreal for a live concert. Next Wednesday and every following week until mid-September the Sun and Music concerts take place on the terrace of the Oratory and they're 100% free to attend.
The shows start at 7 p.m., so you can sit back and listen to classical, jazz and world music while watching the sun set in the distance. The view is spectacular. It really is an all sensory experience and the perfect way to get over the midweek hump.
The shows will be cancelled if there's rain, so make sure to check the weather before you go. Let's hope this cool but sunny weather holds out through September. But it’s a good excuse to grab a blanket, and a thermos of hot chocolate (sorry, no alcohol is allowed – we checked) and cuddle up on the steps during the performance.
On August 21 the Mont-Royal Tango Music Collective will be there performing The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by the master of the Argentinean tango, Astor Piazzolla. If you love the violin and strings, you may want to experience this night.

September 4th will have a cappella singers from the group Ainsi Soient-elles. If you've never heard them before, they are worth a listen. Check out their Facebook page for past performances.
The concert ends September 11 with performances by Tambouyés; a percussion and world music group.
