Google has been teasing us for months now with promises of creating original gaming content for its new streaming platform Stadia. In an announcement today, Google has officially revealed the city of the very first Stadia Games and Entertainment office and it's none other than our very own Montreal.
Stadia is a new cloud gaming service that streams directly to devices, much like streaming Netflix or music — all you need is an internet connection. There has been a lot of buildup about the platform and its promise of "exclusive, original content across a diverse portfolio of games" along with third-party games.
Montreal is already home to some of the biggest gaming companies in the industry like Ubisoft, Warner Bro Games, and Eidos. So what does another gaming company mean for Montreal? A ton of job opportunities!
Stadia released its first round of job listings with the announcement of the coming Montreal office. Most of the positions it is currently looking to fill are higher up the corporate ladder but that means entry-level positions can't be far behind.
If you've always wanted to work in the gaming industry, this could be an amazing opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a huge company and infrastructure like Google but with the startup feel of a brand new division.
Stadia has some lofty goals as its team "[intends] to change the way games are accessed and experienced by players, we want to change the way games are made."
If you want a little more information on exactly what Stadia is, they released a quick two-minute video on Twitter to give you the lowdown.
