Government Of Canada Issues Dangerous Heat Warning For Montreal And Most Of Southern Quebec
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for several cities across Quebec this morning. If you're in the following areas, make sure you have your fan prepped and ready!
This July it feels like every other day there has been a heat warning.
This weekend, though, is going to be particularly trying as the humidex has temperatures soaring into 40°C territory, both tomorrow and Saturday.
The next few days didn't look particularly tough with temperatures ranging from anywhere between 25°C to 31°C. That is until you take a look at that nasty humidex and subsequent 'feels like' column.
In Montreal, Friday and Saturday may be hitting that unbearable stage with temperatures feeling like 41° and 40° respectively.
According to Environment Canada 'a warm and very humid airmass will move into Southern Quebec on Friday and remain in place until Saturday.'
The follow areas will be affected by this oncoming heatwave:
- Eastern Townships
- Metro Montréal
- Richlieu Valley
- Upper Gatineau
So get ready to have that feeling where you take a shower and then remain wet, hot and sticky for most of the weekend. Unless you have air conditioning, you lucky bastard.
On top of the high humidex, most of the weekend has a strong chance of thundershowers, so it may not be the best time to hit up that pool, friend. I foresee a long weekend spent indoors.
Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses are most at risk for heat exhaustion or heatstroke. But don't forget about any pets you may have! It's not a good idea to take Spot out for intense exercise for the next few days.
Symptoms of heatstroke can include dizziness, fainting, nausea, vomiting, headaches, rapid breathing, extreme thirst and decreased urination.
If not dealt with, heatstroke can lead to serious health complications.
So stay cool out there, my friends.
