Gunman Shoots 21-Year-Old Man And 18-Year-Old Woman On Montreal Sidewalk
  • Another Montreal shooting happened late last night, this time in St. Laurent
  • Police arrived to the corner of Cardinal and Tassé to find the pair on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the lower body.
  • Neither victim is cooperating with the police investigation.

An 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, who had been walking together late last night in the Montreal borough of St. Laurent, were shot and found lying on the sidewalk.

Police and paramedics arrived to the scene on Cardinal St. in the Montreal borough of St. Laurent to find that, luckily, both victims had only suffered shots to the lower body.

In speaking with the SPVM, they were able to confirm that the victims' injuries* were non-life-threatening and that both individuals were conscious upon arrival to the scene and while travelling via ambulance to the hospital.

The pair had apparently just been walking through the neighbourhood when, according to CTV News, a witness heard up to six gunshots around 10:55 p.m.

The CTV report indicates that Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant admitted it was hard to know exactly what happened because neither suspect was particularly coherent between the scene and the hospital.

However, SPVM media relations office Caroline Chèvrefils indicated that the main issue was, in fact, the lack of cooperation from the victims, who are not providing information or aiding the police in their attempt to find the suspect of the shooting.

The suspects were found at the intersection of chemin Cardinal and rue Tassé, just north of Côte-Vertu Ouest.

Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant, in speaking with CTV News, raised the question of a drive-by shooting, as opposed to the gunman approaching the victims by foot and then running off, but these questions will need to be answered via investigation, as the victims continue to avoid cooperation.

This means that, as of now, there is no motive, the circumstances are unclear and no arrests have yet been made. Police don't yet have a suspect.

The scene was cordoned off to allow both officers and the K-9 unit to survey the scene for any details.

The male suspect is known to the police, which could explain the desire to avoid cooperating with the investigation.

As of now, both victims are expected to make a full recovery.

We will keep you posted if any new details arise.
