What is apparently the first "intelligent robot" restaurant worker in Quebec can be found in Montreal. Harbin Dumplings welcomed the spunky little fiend to its St-Denis location in January. The so far publicly nameless droid valiently shuffles food to and from tables using two shelves and demonstrating a slight attitude to direct loitering customers out of its way.

According to the restaurant Facebook page, Harbin Dumplings invested in the robot "to better serve you." It still needs a human chaperone, however, who picks up customers' trays of food and place them on the table.

At first, I was a little taken aback by the robot scooting around the restaurant with hot plates waiting to be served. But the little critter quickly grows on you.

It acts with precision, clearly knowing its way around the space and avoiding collisions.

I even began to like the notion of not having to speak to anyone and just being able to dig into my food.

What surprised me most about this adorable little robot is that it speaks French, squeaking out a quick "on vous souhaite un bon répas, bon apetit!" before zipping away. It has no time for small talk.

I witnessed a very polite robot with the cutest little voice, but according to the Harbin Dumplings St-Laurent location's Facebook page, the busser knows how to tell customers to move out of the way.

Its kind eyes widen into an irritated stare as it politely asks, "please don't stay in front of me, I have to work!" (translated from French).

If the rude humans ignore its plea, it declares, "Je suis fâché!"

I don't know about you but the thought of an angry robot slightly disturbs me, but I guess eaters will just need to stay out of its way.

In addition to a tempermental robot, Harbin Dumplings offers traditional soup dumplings, as well as a variety of ther noodle and meat dishes.
