One thing I think we can all truly be grateful for right now is delivery services. But the reality is that sometimes such a service takes longer than we can wait — especially when it has to do with food. Well, luckily for us, as of May 2, IGA delivery in Montreal is promised to arrive at our homes within 48 hours of ordering.
So, if you always plan accordingly, you may never have to do your own grocery shopping again!
A spokesperson from IGA told MTL Blog that "Always with the goal of better serving its customers, IGA is making IGA Essentiels service available to all residents of the of Montreal, starting tomorrow (May 2)."
"From tourtière to tomato soup to milk and basic household products: it is now possible to do a complete grocery shopping quickly with this new service."
IGA customers will now have an easier online shopping experience, with quick access to the store's most popular products.
IGA chose to put this rapid delivery measure in place because of the recent demand its been getting of customers shopping online or by the phone.
In terms of helping people practice social distancing, access to remote grocery shopping is so important.
This ultra-fast delivery service is accessible to anyone living on the island of Montreal.
Plus, when you order from IGA Essentiels, 5% of your purchase goes to the initiative Cuisines Solidaires, which helps give meals to individuals in need.
In an email with a sales representative, MTL Blog was told that "since March 16, IGA merchants have experienced increases of:
+ 38,000 telephone orders per week, which represents an average of + 100 telephone orders per store.
+ 300 delivery trucks on the road
+ 200 drivers (100 external and 100 internal)."
IGA has implemented various other measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in its stores.
In a press release written by President and CEO Michael Meline, it says all IGA employees are now "washing their hands every fifteen minutes."
Stores have also reduced their hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To add to these measures, IGA was also one of the first stores in the city to start installing plexiglass near cash registers, to limit the contact between employees and customers.
Enjoy your online grocery shopping experience!
