It's Going To Feel Like 39°C In Montreal This Week

While summer was slow to start in the Montreal area this year, there's no question that the heat has arrived. We're sitting around 30°C today and it's going to be a sunny one, meaning if you're out and about, you're going to want sunscreen and something to keep you hydrated.
But when it comes to this Friday, I honestly don't know what kind of advice I can even give... because it's going to feel like 39°C in Montreal this Friday.
Yes, you read that correctly, and yes I have typed it correctly as well.

Here is the weekly forecast for the rest of the week here in Montreal, according to The Weather Network.
You can see that Friday's temperature is forecasted to be 31°C, but also take a look at the number below.

The "Feels like," column takes into account things like windchill in the winter or humidity in the summer, to give a better indication of what the day will actually feel like.
And in this case, apparently, we're all going to feel like a bunch of hot dogs on Friday, because it's going to feel like 39°C in Montreal.
Last year, up to 70 deaths were blamed on the extreme heatwave that Quebec faced near the end of the summer. With extreme heat like this, it's important to keep in mind people you know who live alone and are considered vulnerable.
Luckily it looks like things are going to settle down in the temperature department starting after the rain on Saturday. While the "Feels like" temperatures are still in the high twenties, at least there's the solace of the clouds.

The week following looks much the same, as well, with temperatures staying in the twenties and the highest high reaching 27°C (though it will feel like 32°C).
We're also going to continue to see those cool evenings we've been blessed with thus far, so keep busting those windows open at night to feel that nighttime breeze.

And if you don't yet have a fan... Might I suggest running to your closest Canadian Tire after work today?
You're going to want one come Friday, when even at night it's only going to go down to 22°C.
Happy melting, Montreal. I hope you survive until Saturday when the temperature breaks.
Until then, check out our list of Montreal's free pools or maybe consider a stop at the all-new Verdun beach.
