Montrealers put up with the city's harsh winters because of how incredible its summers are. And, this year, the summer schedule looks like it's going to be more jam-packed with events than ever. Though there's a seemingly endless number of music festivals in the city, there's apparently room for yet one more. Hold on to your cowboy hats because Lasso Montreal is officially bringing country tunes to the city for the first time this summer.
The festival will take over Parc Jean-Drapeau from August 14 to August 15, 2020. The event will feature some of the hottest and most beloved artists in the field including Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Old Dominion, Morgan Wallen, Brett Kissel, and many others.
Together, they will immerse Montreal in a genre that otherwise has had little traction here. But perhaps this is the beginning of a new music trend for a city more accustomed to EDM and jazz.
According to the festival website, "fans will find more hot country than they can shake a stick at, with a lineup that draws from across the spectrum of country genres, bringing together cherished classics alongside everything shiny and new!"
For those who will sing up an appetite, there will be a selection of food trucks and concession stands, as well as catering services at the festival site. There will even be vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Like many weekend music festivals, the cost of a weekend pass is fairly steep, but seeing how it is in August, it gives you plenty of time to make up for your frivolous spending. A two-day pass will cost you $208.49 and those looking to indulge in a Gold Pass will have to shell out $408.49.
The Gold Pass includes entry onto the terrace viewing area with bar service, private washrooms, and exclusive entrance onto the site.
This festival is going to be the first of its kind in our city and an opportunity for country music-lovers to demonstrate their pride.
The promise of Brad Paisley and Luke Bryan both in our city at the same time is enough to help me get over the winter blues.
And, as a bonus, this is a great excuse to wear a Canadian tuxedo paired with cowboy boots, because who doesn't love a little denim on denim?
