- The local Montreal legend, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, is using his time in self-isolation to help update his followers on the importance of social distancing.
- Check his video out below!
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is not only a legend in Montreal — this man is known across the globe. As the first Super Bowl winner to also be a doctor, there is no denying that this man is a pretty impressive human. The McGill graduate won the Super Bowl this year playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only is he an amazing role model, but he's also highly intelligent. That is why it's so important to listen to the wisdom that he's been spewing on his social media.
This doctor, Super Bowl winner, and founder of his own foundation, Foundation LDT, is just one of those people who has an impact on those who follow him, which is why it's so great to see him doing his part in educating his followers on the coronavirus and the importance of self-isolation.
The first video shows him explaining that he just got back from vacation and that he was isolating himself for the next 14 days to avoid getting sick or spreading the virus even more than it has already spread. And, instead of using his words, Duvernay-Tardif decided to do something really cool to show the importance of social distancing.
The doctor lined up a bunch of matches and showed how the closer they were to one another, the faster they caught fire. His cheeky commentary also adds to the greatness of this video.
He demonstrates that when the matches, which are representations of people, are separated from one another, they don't affect those around them when on fire.
Tardif is not the only Montreal athlete to be speaking up and telling their followers the reality of the situation. Montreal Impact player Thierry Henry went to twitter with a minute-long video to help influence those watching to be vigilant, especially the youth of our city.
Some of the Montreal Canadiens have also provided their followers with some advice and positivity in the past few days.
These athletes have influence in our city. And hopefully, by them speaking up, the people of Montreal will understand the importance of social distancing, washing their hands and all the other aspects that go into catching this virus.
