Luka Magnotta's Montreal Apartment Is Apparently Occupied

Luka Magnotta's Montreal apartment, where he killed student Jun Lin, is currently occupied, according to a sign next to the doorbells within the now-infamous building's lobby. The apartment complex featured heavily in the popular Netflix documentary Don't F**ck with Cats, in which online vigilantes recount their hunt for the would-be murderer after he posted videos online of him killing cats. It was in the alley behind the building where a janitor discovered the torso of Jun Lin.

The student's hands and feet were mailed in boxes to schools and political party offices.

The apartment was previously rented with a one-year lease to an individual in 2013, according to a report by the Toronto Star.

Before that, the apartment sat empty for over six months, the building superintendent told the Star. It's unclear whether the current tenant is the same individual that rented it in 2013.

In addition to the thoroughly-reported address, the building also uses a different street number which is posted on a piece of paper above the entrance. It's not certain that its management applied for an official address change.

The apartment complex sits next to an empty lot and Google Maps shows that the next building has an address of 5738.

There have been several apartment listings under the alternate address. A now-deleted, undated Kijiji post advertised a 1.5 bachelor for $550/month.

Don't F**k With Cats offers glimpses of the interior of the apartment.

The carpet and room dimensions resemble those of the apartment in the Kijiji ad.

A small sign next to the apartment doorbells suggests that the scene of the crime, number 208, is occupied.

The killer is currently serving a life sentence at a federal prison in Quebec. He married another inmate, Anthony Jolin, in 2017.

MTL Blog attempted to contact the occupant as well as the building's management but has not received a response from either.

We also attempted to contact the family of Jun Lin for comment but were unable to locate them.

Don't F**k With Cats is now on Netflix. You can watch it here and read our writer's review of the documentary here.
