- At Maison Lavande in Saint-Eustache, you can set up a picnic in the middle of a lavender field.
- You can even bring your dog!
The sun is staying out a little longer, the nights are getting a little shorter and the smell of spring is slowly beginning to fill the air. The only odour better than that of the impending thaw, though, is the scent of lavender blowing over you as you enjoy a picnic surrounded by rows of the purple flowers at Maison Lavande. Located in Saint-Eustache, this sprawling lavender field will give you magnificent springtime vibes and pretty spectacular social media fodder.
It's just the excursion we know we'll need after a winter retreat from the world.
Although the on-site shops supply all things Lavander products all year round, the "agri-touristic site is open from June to October and offers an enjoyable guided visit to delight nature lovers, and artisan products of superior quality, all of which are lovingly cultivated and produced by the Ferron-Joannette family," according to the farm website.
Activities abound on the property. Repose on an Adirondack chair or get an alternative view of the field from the large swing. There's also a viewing treehouse.
But a picnic is perhaps the best way to enjoy the scenery. As you look over the beautiful fields of fresh flowers, you can enjoy a peaceful picnic of your own.
If you're not the type to pack a lunch, healthy treats, including a tantalizing lavender lemonade, are available for purchase at the bistro.
And, if the sight and scent of Lavander weren't enough to motivate you to go, then perhaps the fact that your four-legged BFF can tag along with you for the experience will (as long as he or she is kept on a leash)!
Plus, on Thursday and Friday evenings the Maison stays open a little later to "allow you to enjoy the flowering show under a different light."
This gives you the chance to have a little 5 à 7 picnic as the sun sets and take in the deep purple of the field against the summer twilight sky.
Less than an hour from Montreal, Maison Lavade is an estival must.
Last year, during the high season, mid-June to the beginning of August, visits to the site were only $10 for adults!
