Montreal #24 STM Bus & Café Most Recent Potential Public COVID-19 Exposure Sites

• Two more public places in Montreal have been named as potential public COVID-19 exposure sites.
• The first is Montreal's #24 STM bus, another instance of a potentially contagious person on public transit in the city.

Montreal's Ministry of Health and Social Sciences (MSSS) has now indicated that two more public places have been added to the list of spots where there was a risk of potential exposure to COVID-19 in the city. Recently, the MSSS noted that a patient had been present at the Bibliothèque de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and on a section of the STM's Green line, between Agrignon and McGill stations while potentially contagious. Now the MSSS is asking individuals who were on the STM bus #24 headed west, as well as at Montreal's Café Aunja, to self-monitor. 

Montrealers have been asked to consider whether they were also in these public places around the same time and if so, to watch for symptoms like a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. 

If you do notice these symptoms, you are to call 1-877-644-4545.

With that said, the MSSS continues to insist that "the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains very low on public transit." Still, anyone who believes they were on public transit around the times mentioned below, or in any of the public places listed on the government website, should monitor themselves for symptoms.

As mentioned above, someone with COVID-19 who was potentially contagious used the STM's #24 bus on March 12 between 10:30 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.

This person was travelling between the Hôpital Notre-Dame and the Museum of Fine Arts. 

Individuals who suspect they were also on this bus around this time are encouraged to monitor their symptoms until March 26.

The second public place where someone who was potentially contagious visited is Café Aunja. Café Aunja is a Persian café located on Sherbrooke Ouest at the base of rue Redpath.

The potentially contagious person was there on March 13 between 12:25 p.m. and 1:05 p.m.

Individuals who suspect or know they were also at this café around this time are encouraged to monitor their symptoms until March 27. 

There have also been reports that a healthcare worker at the Sainte-Justine Children's Hospital in Montreal has tested positive for COVID-19. This hospital is where Montrealers with appointments can now visit for a COVID-19 test via drive-through.

An investigation is reportedly underway to trace who else the staff member was in contact with so that they can also monitor for symptoms. 

The staff member is now at home in self-isolation.
