I moved to Montreal two years ago and have been in the same apartment the whole time. I absolutely love my neighbourhood (as is evidenced in multiple articles) and I think my partner and I scored with this place considering we signed the lease for it while we were still living in Halifax.
But, as you spend time in a place, you accumulate things, acquire new furniture and eventually just desire some change. I'm at a place now where I really would love an extra room to use as an office, instead of being tempted by my couch as I try and work from my desk across the living room.
People in Montreal might say it's not the ideal time to be looking for an apartment, but if Kijiji is any indication, that is not the case.
There are a bunch of new apartments cropping up all the time, so maybe trying to move when it's not July 1 is actually a strategy worth considering.
For me, the best part of my current apartment is the amazingly green backyard, with a huge lawn and space for my garden.
