- To encourage their students to attend, several Montreal schools, cégeps, and universities are cancelling class.
- In attendance at the march will be teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, who has just delivered a damning speech at the United Nations.
With the September 27 Montreal climate change protest just around the corner, Montreal-area schools are preparing to cancel classes in anticipation of students attending the climate march.
Students and workers alike are mobilizing at Mount Royal on ave. du Parc and will be marching through the streets in a show of global solidarity to petition world leaders to take action against climate change.
Led by internationally renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg, the protest will begin at 12 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. The 16-year-old Thunberg began this movement last year after her anxieties about climate change motivated her to start a global movement to demand climate action.
