This Is The Last Week You Can Go To Montreal's Floating Outdoor Movie Theatre

Celebrate the summer while floating around watching Jurassic Park.
This Is The Last Week You Can Go To Montreal's Floating Outdoor Movie Theatre
  • This summer, the Parc Jean Drapeau Aquatic Complex has been host to a floating outdoor movie theatre.
  • For three nights only this summer, visitors to the complex have had the opportunity to float in tubes while enjoying a film on a giant screen.
  • This week, the last screening of the summer will be Jurassic Park.

If you were too busy this summer to fit in a night of floating cinema time, you still have one more chance to relax on in inner tube while taking in a film before it starts to get a little too cold.

The Aquatic Complex at Parc Jean-Drapeau has already hosted two movie nights (well in one instance, a TV night) in their dive pool (aptly themed Jaws and french series Dans une Galaxie près de chez vous), and this August 31 they will host the last film of the summer, Jurassic Park.

There is nothing to bring but your bathing suit. Buoys are supplied, but it's always best to bring your own in case they run out.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up in clothing that goes with the theme of the viewing; so feel free to whip out last year's Tyrannosaurus Halloween costume and test if it floats.

The tickets are free, you just have to pay the entry fee for the Aquatic Complex which is only $7.50 and gives you access to both pools — and way cheaper than going to a movie theatre. And also, a much more fun way to watch a movie.

Jurassic Park will be in French but with English subtitles. The film starts at 7 p.m. and the park closes at 9 p.m. This is the perfect end to not just an August day, but the end of the month and sniff sniff, summer.

There have been a lot of outdoor movies playing in Montreal over the summer, but there is something about bobbing along in the water while watching a classic dinosaur movie that just seems right.

The films are projected on a giant screen, so you don't have to be there early to get a good view.

The Aquatic Complex does get packed when Montrealers and tourists alike look for a place to cool down and swim during the summer. But the later movie times usually see more adults.
