Montreal Has A New Gourmet Dessert & Wine Bar In Little Italy
Montreal keeps stepping up its food game with new and unique spots to grab a bite to eat.
Just when you think Little Italy has covered the gamut of restaurant and bar niches, another one pops up that we suddenly don't know how we lived without.
The lastest place to open its doors falls directly into the category of life-changing. Hello, Ratafia... a new gourmet dessert bar.
If you were lucky enough (I wasn't) you caught Ratafia at this year's Grand Prix when it briefly opened as a pop-up bar. Now it has its own permanent residence, so you can get your dessert fix at any time; well from 4 PM to 1 AM on most days anyway.
Ratafia desserts are works of art that change with the season and availability of local products. The presentation is artistically designed and each bite is simply orgasm-inducing. This is fine dining so remember to wipe the string of drool on your chin all classy like.

But this is not a place just for the dessert aficionados (whose expectations will surely be exceeded) but for wine lovers too. They take their alcohol menu just as seriously; pairings, including dessert wines, sakes, sparkling wines, and local beer, are also recommended.
The restaurant seats up to 69 people but they also have a great street-side terrasse that seats 20 — a popular place during their 5 à 7.
If you're craving something more salty than sweet they also have a mixed platter supplied by the guys over at Falafel Yoni and Epicerie Conserva that includes things like vegetables, mushroom pâté, cheese, and bread.
Ratafia may be gourmet, but the energy here is fun and lively. Even if you don't want a dessert, you can still drop in for only a drink.
