Our Belle Province is often nicknamed "cheese heaven" because of the abundance of cheese production found in our region. Fun dinner party fact: over three-quarters of all of Canada's cheeses are produced in Quebec. That's a lot of fromage.
In addition to P'tit Quebec's standard brick cheddar cheese, some of the most highly prized artisan and fine cheese in Canada are found in Quebec. You may have already heard of "Fromages d'ici," meaning cheese from here — it's a Quebec-based association that works to promote local cheese artisans and dairy producers. You may have seen those little "D'ICI" stickers on your cheese items at the grocery stores, too.
TL;DR The free Fêtes des fromages d'ici will take place at the Complexe Desjardins this February 21st-23rd, 2019 from 11am-5pm. More details below.
That said, cheese-lovers all over the province can reap the benefits of local production at Fête des Fromages d’ici, a huge cheese festival and celebration of everything cheesy, coming to Montreal this February!
The festival is now in its 13th edition and will once again offer the public the opportunity to meet and sample products from Quebec’s top cheesemakers!
The best part: entry to the festival is 100% FREE!
