It's finally July — and it feels like it! The first major summer heat wave is upon us, but that's not stopping Montrealers from getting out and enjoying the warmth, even if it's extreme, while it lasts.
It's picnic season, no matter the weather. To take advantage of this enthusiasm for outdoor dining, several food festivals have begun to annouce their 2019 summer programs. From Cuban BBQ to Indian food, Montrealers will have ample opportunity to enjoy some festival food in the sun this year.
Of course, one of the most anticipated annual events is the RibFest. With "live Music, local vendors," and "6 professional ribbers" serving all kinds of savoury BBQ goodness, the festival is one of the most exciting events of the season. The best part: admission to the RibFest is FREE.
This year, the RibFest will return to the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough between the 16th and 18th of August. Participating "ribbers" include the Dinosaur Smokehouse, Ribs Royale, and the Fatboys Southern Smokehouse.
"Professional Ribbers will be sharing their love of BBQ and the feast, and you'll be able to eat to your heart's content, while listening to great World music that we have from this great city of ours," the festival Facebook page reads.
The event is organized by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Island as a way to raise money for the organization's summer activities. "By participating in Montreal RibFest, you are helping us make a positive difference in the lives of our community’s youth."
