Year after year, veganism gains worldwide steam as an alternative lifestyle and diet choice for many people. In fact, Canada's Food Guide for 2019 predominantly listed plant-based alternative proteins for the first time ever.
According to a study published in 2018, nearly 10% or some 3 million Canadians consider themselves vegan or vegetarian. With so many converts to the lifestyle, no wonder Montreal is hosting one of Canada's biggest vegan festivals!
The Festival végane de Montréal is returning to the Palais des congrès for its 6th edition this September! Former Montreal Alouettes star and plant-based athlete, Marc-Olivier Brouillette, will be the spokesperson for the event.
Happening on September 21st and 22nd, the Montreal Vegan Festival is the biggest of its kind in the city. The festival puts a neat little plant-based bow on the city's festival season!
Translation: The 2019 edition of the festival is coming soon and we're looking for volunteers! You'll be there for both days, helping out with planning, organization, and various affairs. Bilingualism is a must. For more questions, please visit our Facebook page!
According to Stéphanie Plamondon, Montreal Vegan Fest Coordinator, the festival's "goal is to democratize veganism and make it accessible to everybody by offering a large selection of food, beauty, and clothing products, but also through lots of thematic conferences, workshops, and culinary demonstrations taking place during the Festival."
Plamondon also says that "this year’s edition will especially focus on how to veganize meals for toddlers and athletes of all levels. The Montreal Vegan Festival groups everything vegan under the same roof!"
The festival is run by a team of passionate volunteers who aim to promote all things vegan and will feature some of Quebec's top local vegan brands and artisans.
Open to all ages and catering to all kinds of different people, the Montreal Vegan Festival is a must-attend event if you're interested in a plant-based lifestyle.
Along with food vendors, the festival will feature workshops, conferences, and a huge library section where visitors can read up on the latest vegan news and cookbooks. Attendees can even get their books signed by top vegan authors.
Full event details along with a complete list of vendors will be released soon, so stay tuned!
