Montreal Is Hosting An Adorable Dog Festival Today

Montreal has sprouted! Within the span of a single week, leaves appeared on the trees and flowers reached their full bloom. As a result, animals of the city are finally out and about after a winter of hibernation.

Suddenly, it seems, cats have once again taken to the alleys and dogs are happily prancing with their owners down sidewalks and through parks. Dogs, of course, enjoy the long-delayed arrival of warm weather as much as their humans.

That's why there's a Montreal festival dedicated to the celebration of dogs and the freedom to run free in the summer grass. Dog Fest is "the largest outdoor festival in Montreal" devoted "to our love of dogs," according to the festival Facebook page.

"A celebration of all things canine for dog lovers and dog owners from across the city and around the province. A fun-packed day of dog-themed recreation and special events," the festival includes "obstacle courses and competitions" for dogs and their owners.

There will also be "presentations by local merchants and manufacturers of dog toys, dog treats, dog food and care products, dog beauty salons, everything dogs and their humans could ever want!"

Exhibitors in years past have included high-end dog food producers as well as animal rights and healthcare organizations. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about your best friend and what you can do to give them a happy, healthy life.

Of course, on the open lawn of the festival grounds, dogs will have ample opportunity to sniff butts and frolic with their canine compatriots. You don't need a dog to attend, however. The festival Facebook page makes clear that all dog lovers are welcome to join the fun!

This year, the Dog Fest returns for its third edition between June 22nd and 23rd at 501 boulveard Saint-Jean, Pointe-Claire, in the Montreal West Island. Stay tuned to the Dog Fest Facebook page for forthcoming details.
