Montreal Is Hosting An Enormous 'Italian Festival' This Weekend

This weekend, Semaine Italienne de Montreal reaches its peak with an activity-packed conclusion to its 10-day run!
It's the 26th year for the event and if last year is any indicator, it doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon. While it seems a 'week' is longer in Italy, we're pretty happy for those few extra days to celebrate. Because an Italian festival can't be contained to a mere 7 days!
It's a wild party that covers everything from a street festival (highly recommended) to vintage cars, fashionshows, awesome food, music, and live performances all ending in an open-air Opera.
Did we mention the awesome food? Mmmmh....cannolis.

Last year there were over 530,000 people there. If you don't like crowds, you're out of luck. But trust us, dealing with the throngs of people just lets you know how good it is.

The festival spreads throughout the city hitting spots like Laval, St-Leonard, Notre-Dame-de-Grace, Rivière-des-Prairies, Saint-Michel, and Lasalle.
The street festival portion will, of course, be held in Little Italy on St. Laurent. Like it could have been anywhere else.

If you can only make one festival this year—which we would shame you for as there are so many amazing festivals in Montreal to take advantage of—then you have to check out La Semaine Italienne. Italian people know how to have a good time.

You'll leave smiling, full and with a strange penchant for jumping on a Vespa.
