Orange Line Partially Shut Down Again Due To "Urgent Work" & "Incident"
Montreal's STM Metro Orange line has been shut down again this morning, following a shutdown around 7 a.m. that lasted around half an hour. The first shut down impacted stations between Montmorency and Cartier and was then extended to include stations between Montmorency and Henri-Bourassa. The STM has now tweeted that a scheduled service disruption would impact stations on the Orange line between Côte-Vertu and Lionel-Groulx.
The tweet indicated that "urgent work" was required, necessitating a service disruption between 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
UPDATE: As of 10:23, service is gradually resuming on the orange line.
The STM later updated passengers to indicate the disruption would last until after 10 a.m. between Côte-Vertu and Lionel-Groulx. However, the reason behind the extended disruption is now simply an "incident."
Now, the shutdown is expected to last until 10:20 a.m.
In a Tweet, the STM states that it extended the disruption "due to reasons beyond [its] control."
The service disruption early this morning was due to "electrical equipment failure," which was solved relatively quickly and also only touched the most northeastern stations of the Orange line.
The current disruption is now affecting the entire western stretch of the Orange line, all the way from Côte-Vertu to Lionel-Groulx.
The STM has not indicated if the "urgent work" and the "incident" which have caused the service disruptions are related or not.

For the duration of the shutdown, the STM recommends taking bus routes from Côte-Vertu, instead.
