Montreal Weather This Week Is Bringing 4 Days Of Snow
  • Monreal weather this week is going to essentially be a dump of snow.
  • Environment Canada is forecasting snow in Montreal for four of the next five days.
  • This forecast also includes a Special Weather Statement for Montreal's Thursday morning commute, where we could see up to 15 cm of snow.

If you're someone who has been less than excited about all the freezing rain (and straight up rain rain) we've been seeing in the city lately, you're not alone. That kind of slippery Montreal weather makes driving terrible, sidewalks nearly un-walkable, and often manages to make our beautiful snow disappear.

So, if you're a snow lover, like me... I've got good news.

It's looking like it is going to snow a ton in Montreal this week, starting tonight.

In fact, it's going to snow four out of the next five days in Montreal.

Only Friday will be sunny and clear, while every other day between Wednesday and Sunday is going to bring snow to the city.

Environment Canada has even issued a "Special Weather Statement" about the snow that is expected to hit on Wednesday night and continue into Thursday.

There's potential for Montreal to see up to 15 centimetres by Thursday morning, which could make for a slow morning commute.

So, bust out the toboggans or snowshoes, buy that day pass to your favourite ski hill, or book a day at the spa... the snow is coming and now is the time to make the most of it.

Below is the weekly forecast for Montreal, provided by Environment Canada, where you can see that four of the next five days will be bringing snow to the city.

The Special Weather Statement for Montreal refers to "a developing low-pressure system over Texas" which is going to track up the east coast of the United States on Wednesday.

In Montreal, snow is expected to "begin Wednesday evening and intensify overnight."

A handful of regions in Southwestern Quebec are also under this Special Weather Statement, as Environment Canada waits to see how this weather system will track, which will inevitably "affect snowfall amounts," they explain.

The other regions outside of Montreal under this Special Weather Statement include:

- Drummondville - Bois-Franc

- Eastern Townships

- Lachute - Saint-Jérôme

- Lanaudière

- Metro Montreal

- Laval

- Richelieu Valley - Saint-Hyacinthe

- Vaudreuil - Soulanges - Huntingdon

Environment Canada explains, "areas south of a line from Montreal to Sherbrooke may see total snowfall amounts of up to 15 centimetres."

This incoming snow obviously runs the risk of making driving conditions on Thursday morning pretty nasty, particularly in heavy-traffic areas like Montreal.

Luckily, Friday has no snow in the forecast, so the city should have lots of time to get the plows out and take care of the roads before the snow returns for Saturday and Sunday.

So, stay safe on the roads this week, Montreal... let's make sure we all make it to the weekend so we can enjoy all the fluffy white stuff!
