Montreal Woman Attacked By Python Found In Her Apartment

She came home and it was just... there. 🐍
Montreal Woman Attacked By Python Found In Her Apartment

A woman in Cote-des-Neiges is no doubt beyond ready to move out today after coming home and finding a python in her kitchen.

Yes, you read that correctly. A woman in Montreal found a python in her apartment.

I know you guys think we make this shit up, but honestly, I couldn't make this up if I tried. This is a level of nightmare even I couldn't dream up.

The story comes via CTV Montreal, who spoke with the tenant Olabisi Titilayo after she found the very unwelcome houseguest after coming home from work.

Also unsettling was the fact that when Titilayo came home to her apartment in Cote-des-Neiges her lights were on and cupboards were open.

Then she spotted the python.

After spotting the snake she ran upstairs to get help and luckily found her neighbour. They ran back down to her apartment with garden shears.

Apparently, then the snake tried to attack them.

Pythons are non-venomous snakes that rely on constriction to kill their prey before swallowing them whole. Want to be even more traumatized than simply imagining a python in your apartment? Watch this video of a python eating an alligator

After the python attempted to attack Titilayo and her neighbour, they were forced to kill the snake with the gardening shears. They then had to move the dead snake into a garbage bag.

This is where the story gets even weirder: remember how I mentioned the lights were on and the cupboards were open?

Well, Titilayo is in the process of moving out and so her landlord has been showing the apartment to potential tenants. She believes that the snake belongs to one of the potential renters that was in the apartment with the landlord earlier that night.

Which doesn't really explain much. Who brings their pet python to view an apartment?! Did the snake have a say in the matter?

Ater Titilayo and her neighbour managed to kill the python, a man showed up, claimed the snake was his and then took the garbage bag with the snake in it away.

Are you guys shaking your head with disbelief, too?

Apparently, CTV Montreal tried reaching out to the landlord but I don't think any of us are surprised that he didn't answer.

Watch the CTV Montreal interview with Olabisi Titilayo as she recounts this completely bizarre incident on their page here, complete with cellphone footage of the snake in the apartment.
