Montreal's Atwater Christmas Village Finally Opens This Month

Grab your gifts this month!
Montreal's Atwater Christmas Market Opens In November
  • The fantastic Atwater Christmas Village will finally be opening this month.
  • Warm yourself up by the fire, grab your Christmas tree and do some holiday shopping, all in one place.
  • Plus, local food vendors and musicians will be there to make the market especially merry.

While it is true that the one Montreal Christmas Market that usually takes place down at Place-des-Arts is cancelled due to construction again this year, we do still have a solace of festivity in the city. Montreal's Atwater Christmas market opens this month, down by the canal in Montreal's Saint-Henri neighbourhood.

So if you've got some holiday shopping to do or are just looking for somewhere to get lost in the holiday spirit, Atwater Market will definitely be somewhere you'll be able to do just that, all season long.

The Atwater Christmas Market, called the Village de Noël, will open in just a few weeks, giving you a chance to also pick up your Christmas tree if you've got space for one in your apartment.

Even though I don't have space for a full-sized tree, I can't live without that amazing Christmas tree smell, so I like to buy an evergreen in a 2-gallon pot at Christmastime and then plant it in the spring when the ground gets soft.

In addition to Christmas trees, the market will also have countless local vendors who will be serving up some fantastically festive treats. Plus there will even be a cabane à sucre!

Stock up on sweets for your Christmas party, or save them as stocking-stuffers... Either way, the Village de Noël is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

In addition to shopping, the Village de Noël also offers up a great opportunity to appreciate the outdoors despite the dropping temperatures.

With fire pits to warm up around and little synthetic igloos to hide from the snow, there's no reason not to brave the cold and appreciate the beauty of Montreal as it becomes a winter wonderland.

There will also be live performers that will sing classic carols to warm your heart... and hopefully, distract you from any cold fingers or toes.

Plus, of course, all the local artisans and creators who will be selling their wares will give you an opportunity to pick up some new decorations, buy something nice for yourself, or finish up your gift grabbing.
