Montreal definitely has an appetite, so to speak, for vegan restaurants. With the plant-based diet on the rise, many vegans are looking for new places to eat and drink. That's why so many restaurants are playing to the new market with unique new vegan concepts.
The latest such enterprise is particularly exciting. Le Bowhead Pub is a new restaurant with a pub concept that hopes to attract vegans and non-vegans alike with pub-style comfort food and a drinks menu that is 100% plant-based.
The new restaurant, located on the corner of Saint-Laurent and ave. des Pins, is Montreal's first vegan pub. Le Bowhead Pub will officially open next Thursday, June 20.
The retaurant will serve classic pub food with a vegan twist. “Le Bowhead is first and foremost a really good pub... it just happens to be free of animal products," said co-owner Sahar Cohen.
He continues, adding, "I wanted to create a cosy drinking hole where I can enjoy a few drinks and order anything from the menu without having to bother the staff about ingredients!”
Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescaterian, carnivore, omnivore, or whatever other label you feel like slapping on yourself, the new Bowhead Pub will satisfy your cravings.
On the menu are the new, popular Beyond Meat burgers as well as snacks and other comfort dishes like popcorn chicken.
Cohen assures patrons that all of the drinks are certified vegan, and are "free of animal products in the filtration process."
The cozy interior has everything you'd expect a pub to have: flatscreen TVs, stools and floor-to-ceiling windows. It has already "soft-opened" to the public with a limited menu during F1 weekend and Mural Fest.
The restaurant officially opens on Thursday, June 20th. You can find them at 3723 blvd. St-Laurent.
