In a city blessed with so many cool bars, it can be difficult for one particular one to stand out. STILLIFE is Montreal's newest speakeasy and it has managed to get a lot of love in a short period of time. This bar, which was opened by the same masterminds behind Cloakroom, has managed to create a unique space that could very well become your new hangout spot.
It's easy to miss this speakeasy as it is somewhat hidden within our city (as they usually are). But, once you make it inside, you'll be in awe with every corner you turn.
The modern and sleek decor will give you the illusion of entering a bar on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. According to the bar's website, the vision for this bar was to "construct the ideology that life in and of itself should be not only lived but enjoyed."
The impressive cocktail menu is divided by taste profiles and ingredients. "Our ethos revolves around concentrating our creative efforts on exemplifying core taste profiles related to our values."
The owners' goal is to make the most of Quebec's seasonal ingredients — and they do so in a very creative manner.
Each drink has been carefully curated with unique flavour combinations, all of which are bound to impress both you and your taste buds.
Cocktails start at $8 and go up to $17. There are also beers on tap and a variety of ciders to pick from, if the cocktails on the menu don't do it for you.
Located in the Old Port, this hidden gem is not only focused on the decadent cocktails, but also on "low waste, multiple-use ingredients, locality and the transformation of ingredients from ordinary to inconceivable will change the way people imbibe."
STILLIFE aspires to "embellish every inch of life's canvas," and anyone who stops for a drink here is sure to experience exactly that.
There are so many cool bars in Montreal to pick from, but I can assure you that the next time I go for drinks, it will be at STILLIFE. Everything from the drinks and decor to the goal of the establishment is worth checking out.
