Pointe-Claire's Fairview Mall Transformation: An Exclusive First Look (Photos)

When MTL Blog learned that CF Fairview Pointe-Claire mall was undergoing renovations to coincide with the opening of the Pointe-Claire REM station, we had to know more. So we reached out to speak with General Manager Laurent Bruneau to find out more about what the space will look like, when West Islanders can expect to see the changes come to life, and what kind of new and exciting innovations the renovation has in store for Pointe-Claire's Fairview Mall.

We were able to get our hands on some exclusive renderings of what it will soon look like from Montreal-based design company GH+A Design Studios, the creative minds behind the newly opened Time Out Market Montreal restaurant space.

We also got to hear more about the environmental initiatives CF Fairview is taking to make the Pointe-Claire mall stand out as a leader in green shopping spaces in Montreal.

Take a look at the beautiful images and find out more from our conversation with Laurent Bruneau below!

The decision to undergo renovations came from a desire to seize an opportunity presented by the opening of the new REM Pointe-Claire station.

This, along with the availability of a large box space nearby sparked the notion of making "a bold statement" to the community about the future of CF Fairview Pointe-Claire.

"We have no doubt that [the REM station] will have a positive impact on the number of visitors to the mall."

"It's also a great chance for us to integrate greener, transit-oriented development," Bruneau explained.

And, as you can see above, the renovations are going to include a complete facelift for the interior of the mall, with bright spaces and clean, modern lines throughout.

We asked the GM what he was personally most excited about and he let us know that, while it was tough to choose just one thing, it was probably the addition of four full-service restaurants.

"Dining options in the West Island are geographically scattered," Bruneau explained. "We are building a go-to, central hub for the community."

Besides these four full-service restaurants, the dining hall is expected to see its grand opening in the fall of 2020, with a "mix of classic and new best-in-class concepts."

In addition to some great eats, there will also be a huge, brand new, two-storey Maison Simons, which will mark the first location in the West Island.

The all-new Maison Simons will also be equipped with solar panels, marking a pointed choice by CF Fairview Pointe-Claire to move towards a cleaner, greener shopping centre.

Other environmentally-friendly highlights include "a state-of-the-art organic waste collection system and conversion to LED lighting."
