You Can Get An 8.5-Foot Hulk & Other Life-Like Superheroes In A Montreal Facebook Auction

If you’re not ready to say goodbye to Halloween just yet, you can turn a Saint-Hubert artist's spectacular decorations into the ultimate trick-or-treat score — and this loot lasts a lot longer than candy.

Local artist Maxime Duval has turned his home into everything from a Red Dead Redemption saloon to the Bates Family House in Psychoover the years.

This Halloween, Duval created a Marvel and DC comic book universe on his lawn.

He told MTL Blog it took him almost a year to design the life-sized characters out of pottery, styrofoam, urethane, plaster and plastic, and a month to set them up on his lawn.

Now that Halloween has come and gone, Duval is auctioning off the pieces on his Facebook page.

Bruce Wayne, who offers up a hint of his secret Superman identity by the T-shirt peeking out from under his jacket, has already sold for $360.

Duval is asking for a starting bid of $310 for legendary Marvel creator Stan Lee who's made of plastic, fibreglass, wood and fabric.

Duval said he expects to auction off about 12 more characters — including The Hulk who stands 8.5-feet tall.

As Duval assesses each character on a case-by-case basis since the manufacturing varies, he said he will add them to his Facebook album "Encan 2020 Super Heros" with a starting price.

People can bid in the comments. Bids are accepted in $10 increments. When you have the highest-standing offer for an appropriate amount of time, Duval comments with your name three times and on the third, it's yours.

The items cannot be delivered and Duval said he "count[s] on you to get your purchase as soon as possible."

Proceeds go toward the 28th edition of Maxim Duval’s Halloween event, which is set to take place in October 2021.

This year, the event included Halloween candy and a show featuring Captain America, Iron Man, Batman and Harley Quinn.

Visitors to Rue Balmoral could check out Duval's progress in the days and weeks leading up to Halloween. He also allowed people to take photos with their favourite superhero before taking down the display.

"I hope to bring some sunshine and a smile," he said, in an MTL Blog interview published October 28. "People need a special moment."
