Quebec's Dream-Like Hot Air Balloon Festival Is Back With Nearly 100 Balloons

It's only 30 minutes away from Montreal!
Quebec's International Balloon Festival Is This Year With Nearly 100 Balloons

Summertime in Quebec is unlike anywhere else in the world. From the festival hype buzzing through the streets of Montreal to the numerous opportunities for road trips in the province, this summer is already set to impress. But one event, in particular, defines the local estival spirit. Returning for its 37th edition this year, Quebec's International Balloon Festival, the "biggest gathering of balloons in Canada," will once again take over the skies above St-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Almost 100 balloons and their pilots will dazzle festival-goers with a spectacle of colour and light throughout the eight-day event, according to its Facebook page.

The balloons on display will represent Canada, America, Brazil, and France and visitors will be able to bask in the breathtaking glory of it all from August 8 until August 16, 2020.

The festival's mission, according to its website, is to "reinvent a family-friendly festival offering experiences of interactive discovery and spectacles, whose distinctive product is the hot air balloon."

Weather permitting, early birds can view the crafts take flight as of 6 a.m. while those who prefer sleeping in can catch the show at 6 p.m. each day for the run of the event.

And, for those of you willing to take in the view from above, you can reserve your own flight. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

But the Night Glows are perhaps the most stunning event at the Balloon Festival.

When the sun sets the balloons are attached to the ground as they light up the sky like magnificent Chinese lanterns.

However, if hot air balloons aren't your thing, there will also be carnival rides, food options, and even an SAQ bistro for anyone who needs to wet their whistle while snacking on some grub.

There will also be live entertainment including a performance from the talented Bryan Adams on August 15, at the main stage.

This fun-filled activity is ideal for guests of all ages. And, best of all, this even will do wonders for your Instagram feed.

Add some colour into your life at this summertime event that you're not going to want to miss.
