Snow Tubing On Mount Royal Opens Next Week & You Can Tube Under The Stars In 2020

The winter weather has been a bit fickle this year, with snow, then no snow, and now a little bit of snow. But if all goes right in the snowflake department in the next few days, the snow tubing hill on Mount Royal will be open for business. With a scenic view of Beaver Lake, toboggan hill has set aside reserved lanes for snow tubing aficionados who want to whip down the hill in adrenaline-induced style.

It's set to open Monday, December 16 and will run through to March.

Of course, this all depends on the weather conditions. But fingers crossed, after this weekend, it will be open for fun winter tubing action. You can check out the conditions on the City of Montreal website.

Passes are $10 per adult, and you can bring your own tube (turns out, some people actually own their own) or rent one at the Beaver Lake Pavilion. Be advised, the rentals do stop 30 minutes before closing.

The hill can get pretty busy, especially in its opening days. So be prepared for enthusiastic crowds glad for a reason to get outside.

With the opening of the refrigerated skating rink, you can even pack in an entire day of winter activities.

This year Mount Royal is also offering a "Snow Tubing Under the Stars" option from January 10 to March 7.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, you can speed down the hills in the dark with only the stars lighting your way.

Night tickets are even cheaper at only $7, and you'll also get a 15% discount on hot drinks at the Café des Amis at the Beaver Lake Pavilion.

Once the weather decides to cooperate, Mount Royal offers pretty much every winter sport (and rental service) you could want. And most of it's free.

Along with tubing and skating, there are 22 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and three kilometres of snowshoe trails in the forest.

If the weather is already getting you down, and you need a way to lift your spirits, it's not such a bad reason to bundle up and head outdoors for the day. Netflix will always be there when you get back.
