Now that the snow has fallen, one of my absolute favourite things to do is to visit a spa near Montreal. It's a great excuse to get out of the city and spend some time in the great, wintery outdoors without having to drop cash on a hotel or massage to actually feel pampered. However, keep in mind that a bunch of these places do offer massages and a couple do even have hotels attached if you're really looking to disconnect for a weekend.
For me, though, a couple hours doing a thermal circuit and I am ready to go home and sleep like a baby. There is nothing like curing the sweltering heat of a sauna by plunging into a freezing cold pool of water, and the best part is lounging in a nice hot tub to relax... until you do it all over again.
Dunking in a freezing river, like at Polar Bear's Club, is something that really gives me a serious reset after a hard week... and I can't wait to see how the new Forëna Thermal City turns out, because I'd love to not need a car to get there.
So, yes, I guess I'm a bit of a spa junkie.
Which is why I hope you enjoy this collection of winter wonderful spas only an hour from Montreal where you, too, can experience the relaxation of a hot tub while the snowfalls all around.
