There's a bit of a long-standing rivalry between Montreal and Toronto. You can blame it on hockey, or simply the fact that Montreal is better (I kid!), but one thing that we can agree on is our love for food. Montreal is often considered the mecca of cuisine, but we did envy one particular item the 6ix offered until now. California Sandwiches can now finally take its place as one of the best sandwiches here in Montreal.

Using only the finest ingredients, California Sandwiches is a bit of an icon in Toronto because it delivers on authentic Italian flavours. Top-quality cutlets, out-of-this-world marinara sauce just like your Nona makes, jalapeno peppers, pickled sweet peppers, rapini, mushrooms, sautéed onions, Provolone cheese - it's all prepared in-house, fresh for your consumption. And boy, is it a mouthful. Don't say we didn't warn you!

They also offer a bunch of other Italian classics like pasta, meatballs, and tiramisu and Sambuca espresso to really seal the deal.

California Sandwiches has opened up shop on Saint-Denis Street in downtown Montreal and our favourite eater, Alex Melki, couldn't be happier about it. So much so, their veal sandwich has managed to convert him to appreciating the masterpiece that is the sandwich. Like seriously who doesn't like sandwiches?
