Old Longueuil Transformed Into A Christmas Village For The Home Alone Reboot (Photos)

Vieux Longueuil became Winnetka, Illinois.
The Home Alone Reboot Transformed Vieux Longueuil Into A Christmas Market

Christmas 2020 arrived early in Longueuil as filming for the much anticipated Disney+ Home Alone reboot continues. The city shared behind-the-scenes images of the set, which transformed a section of Vieux Longueuil into an American Christmas village. The photos also offer a hint as to what we might expect from the reboot plot.

The revival of this Christmas classic will star Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, and Archie Yates. And, although the plot is said to be different from the original, I am hoping that we fall in love with it, just as we did when the McCallisters first graced the screen.

Yates will not replace Macaulay Culkin as the iconic Kevin, however. Instead, the young star will reportedly play an equally mischevious 9-year-old named Max.

And though the movie will apparently still take place in the suburbs of Chicago, it's the Montreal area that will appear in the film.

Filming recently took place in Parc St-Marc as well as Café Terrace 1957, both located in Longueuil, only 20 minutes from Montreal.

Probably the most crucial thing we see in the behind-the-scenes pics is that the Home Alone reboot is set in Winnetka, Illinois, a real municipality outside Chicago on Lake Michigan.

The same town where the original film took place.

It appears at least one scene will occur in or near a "Traditional Christmas Fair."

A video posted to the Vieux Longueuil Instagram story also shows pedestrians moving past a series of Christmas huts.

A local restaurant temporarily transformed into "The Dark Roast Café" for the occasion.

It's unclear how long filming will continue in Longueuil. We can additionally confirm that the production team will eventually make use of the Hudson, Quebec town centre.

A few weeks ago there was also a suspicious Christmas set in the Montreal neighbourhood of St-Henri, but we have not received confirmation that that event was related to Home Alone.
