In Toronto, meanwhile, according to Narcity, five TTC stations have been evacuated in response to similar threats.

All menacing messages were sent by email and included strange requests for bitcoin payments, according to the Ottawa Police. Thankfully, police in the capital have determined that the threats are "unfounded."

The unfounded e-mail threat to local business and individuals is demanding a bit coin payment.

If you have been the recipient of such an e-mail threat, please do not respond to the bit coin demand.

The Montreal police have yet to release a statement, but a spokesperson acknowledged to TVA that the agency had received similar emails and is investigating them accordingly.

Police in New York, where businesses also received a series of warnings, have concluded that the threats are meant only "to cause disruption and/or obtain money" and are therefore "NOT CREDIBLE."

At this time, it appears that these threats are meant to cause disruption and/or obtain money. We’ll respond to each call regarding these emails to conduct a search but we wanted to share this information so the credibility of these threats can be assessed as likely NOT CREDIBLE.
